App-Controlled LED Curtain Lights — Music Sync and Custom Patterns

A 3m by 3m curtain of 400 LEDs on twenty hanging strands, for a window, a wall or behind the sofa. Each bead is individually addressable, which is what makes the rest of it possible: the curtain can hold one colour, drift through a gradient, or turn into something you drew yourself.

You control it two ways. The remote handles the everyday — on, off, brightness, a preset scene. The app does the rest: sixteen million colours, a grid you can draw patterns and text into, a library of animations, and a timer so it comes on at dusk without you thinking about it. There is also a music mode that reads sound from your phone or the room and moves the lights with the beat.

Before you buy

It runs from USB and no adapter is included. It needs a standard 5V 2A USB plug — the kind that came with your phone. Most people already have a spare, but it is worth checking before it arrives.

The beads are weather-resistant, the controller is not. The LEDs are rated IP65 and cope with rain, but the small control box and the USB connection are not sealed. Outdoors that means under a porch, a balcony roof or a window overhang, with the controller kept dry. We would call this an indoor light that tolerates a sheltered outdoor spot, rather than a garden light.

The strands cannot be shortened. They are not cuttable, so plan the space before you hang it.

Suppliers change packaging between production runs, so the box, the remote and the app icon may not match the photos exactly. The lights and the features are the same.
